Just a little update on the sale of our house in Virginia. When we signed our contract for this sale, we had a closing date for the beginning of September down but understood it would happen sooner. As the weeks went by, the date kept being moved closer and closer, August 28th, then the 21st and then the 15th! Yeah!!!!
Last week, Brandon was sent to a Navy base down by Tokyo (4 hours away by train, a train ride that cost about $300.00) so I was in charge of dealing with anything that came up on the house (up until this point it has been his job). There were about 3 nights in a row where I had to stay up until 2:30 in the morning to make calls in the states for information our agent needed for this, that and the other (call the county tax office, mortgage company, DMV and on and on) but we seemed to have gotten everything in order.
Today we got an email from our agent telling us that our closing date has had to move to the 29th of August. We were assured that the contract is still "very strong" and "moving forward" but that the backers for the bank are just waiting for her to have the settlement check from her recent divorce in hand...or something along those lines.
So....we wait a little more. Its been stressful waiting. We have come so close before with contracts falling apart days or even hours before closing. With the market being what it is and with us moving out of what most people call the "season" for buying homes, we just worry if this one falls apart as well, then we won't be able to sell it this year.
That's about it for now....we just wait. Hopefully the issues with her bank will resolve soon and we can close quickly (everything else is done and ready)!
