Today we had two special visitors, Joey's teachers for this school year. While the rest of the school (grades 1st to 12th) started class today, Kindergarten starts a whole week (and a day, as Monday is a holiday) later so the teachers can do home visits. Joey was very excited to meet them both and can't wait for next Tuesday. Me on the other hand, well...Lets just say I might need some tissues next Tuesday. Joey and I were planning to make a neat candy tin for his teachers with flowers and leaves but after meeting them and hearing how one is very afraid of bugs, he decided we needed to make her one with "cute" and "friendly" bugs. One will be getting Lady Bugs and the other will be getting Bees. It was quite a simply project. You take Hershey's Nugget candy, (well..actually we had to use the Hershey's Miniatures since they don't carry the Nuggets here) stamp up a address label sticker and wrap it around. Put 9 of the wrapped candies in the tin (found at the 100 Yen store, for...well, for 100 Yen) and then make a band to wrap around the tin. Add a flower and call it a gift! If it ever cools down enough to mail chocolate without it melting back in the states, we might send a few out to grandparents, he sure had fun making them.
