Bad Bunny

Our "Foster Bunny"became an official member of our family just before we left for the states. He had been a good little bunny. He likes to be let out and hop around the hallway (with the doors shut so he can't escape) or in Joey's toy room a bit. He always hops back in the cage if he needs to go potty so not little "surprises" to clean up. The other day he got out the hallway door before I got a chance to close it and ended up in the living room. Joey had a bit of fun chasing around the bunny with my camera trying to get "just the right angle". Then I had "fun" trying to chase him back into his cage.
Well, Sunday night I went to bed early and Joey and Brandon stayed up late to play Lego Star Wars on the Wii since Joey had no school Monday. Brandon let the bunny out of his cage and closed him up in the toy room, planning on putting him away again after 15 or 20 minutes. I guess the game ran long, it took awhile to get Joey in bed and then Brandon fell asleep on the couch. Poor bunny was left out all night. He remembered to hop back in the cage to go potty but then while he was out roaming the toy room all night, well, he chewed the cord right off the plug to both Joey's V-Smile and the DVD player. Joey was rather upset. He told "Fuzz Ball" that he was very grumpy at him and that "Fuzz Ball" would need to say he was sorry. Oh, but he had to say sorry in "American" because Joey doesn't speak "bunny". Well, "Fuzz Ball" spent a day in time out and Brandon lovingly refers to him as "Stew" now. I think Daddy learned that he has to remember to put little furry things back in the cage. He is a cute bunny though.

What To Do With Free Time

There isn't a lot to do around here while Joey is off to school. There is only so much cleaning a person needs to do and I think I might drive the family next door crazy if I keep running the vacuum 4 times a day. I pulled out some of my new craft stuff and worked on a few cards. It was fun to try new things and get to work on a card that was for no particular reason at all. I made this kindergarten card and sent it as a welcome back card for Joey's teacher. She left the same time we did back in September for a funeral as well and was gone for 2 more weeks after we returned. I also made a cute "bra and panty" card that I won't post here because it might make my grandmother faint....but Brandon got a kick out of it. I even went so far as to make a few "card kits", a ziplock bag that has all the pre-stamped (but not colored) images and the pre-cut papers to assemble the cards. I mailed a few back to my parent's house. Not sure if anyone there will actually "make" them but they were fun to put together. Anyhow....this is how I pass some of my free time when I am not studying, cleaning, or out with the ladies.

New Vacuum, Well, Almost

When we got married 8 years ago, we inherited a Kirby from Braondon's parents that worked quite well for the first year and a half. After it puttered out we acquired a Rainbow vacuum that has been Wonderful. Its time to move on though and with the arrival of the Consumer Report magazine with an article concerning vacuums and the Exchange having one of the good ones on sale, we decided to go for it. The Dyson DC17 is supposed to be a great vacuum and good with pet hair. We have not had any issues with picking up bunny hair with the current vacuum but it seems to be incapable of picking up all the wonderful black sock fuzz my husband tracks around the house. After using a friends DC17 I think the problem might be under control now. Well, at least when we GET the vacuum. The DC17 was the "Special" for this weeks AAFES flyer and you would think that they would have more than a few on hand if it is the featured item, right? Wrong. Here in Misawa, they had 1. Yup, just one. When we got to the store it was sold. I asked if the could make use of the new "shuttle" program where they check with the other AAFES stores here in Japan to see if they have some and they have it "shuttled" up here in a weeks time. That was an ordeal. We still don't know if any other store has it in stock but it looks like they just went ahead and "ordered" a new one for us (after my insisting on being given a rain check for the sale price) and it should arrive in 4 to 6 weeks. Yes, you saw that right. It will be over a month until I have my new vacuum. Isn't Misawa wonderful. Its not like we are a tiny base. There are about 3,000 service members here and then probably half that number of DOD contractors as well. Add in all their families and its quite a bit. The exchange here stinks and hardly carries anything. When they do get in a popular item, they get only a small fraction of the number needed and once they are sold, they are usually gone for good!

So.....Me and my Rainbow will continue to work together for a little while longer, but hopefully not too long.

Internet Issues

Well, I’m back. At least I think I am. The past few weeks have been plagued with feeling cruddy, hand foot and mouth disease (seems like 1 in 3 of the elementary school kids got it), doctor appointments, and internet outages. Hopefully the internet issues are at least temporarily resolved but we will probably keep having issues until SoftBank, our phone and internet provider, are kicked off base which will be coming hopefully soon according to the base people we spoke with. Hope you are all doing well and know we miss you all!

Still Here

Just to let you all know, I haven't fallen off the side of the eath. We got home safe and are trying to get back into our schedule. Joey is back at school (even if there is hand, foot and mouth disease going back and forth) and doing well. I have not been feeling great and now seem to have a new schedule (I get up around 5:30 in the morning and I am ready for bed around 6:30 or 7 at night). I'll post more later!
