This past weekend we were able to walk out the front gate and attend the Misawa Tanabata Festival. The festival is for two lovers who were forced to separate by Tenteo the Sky King because they let their romance get in the way of fulfilling their personal duties. I guess the story comes from China and their tradition says that the two lovers can only get together once a year, on the 7th day of the 7th month. They do it a little late here (the 25th to the 27th) but it still is a lot of fun. We were able to see groups of children and young adults that choreographed dance routines (to American Hip –Hop/Gangster Rap music) for the dance competition and we tried some new foods. We sure enjoyed it.
