Does It Come With An Extended Warranty?

The owner’s manual that came with our 2003 model child failed to include a troubleshooting section on how to deal with the frequent overloads, meltdowns and system failures that seem to accrue as the model ages with time. I believe the unit is also outside of the manufacturer’s warranty period and is no longer in production. So, we have had to improvise. Okay, yes…I am talking about Joey here. We have worked hard over the past year to find a system that works for him. I think we found one…we will see just how long it last. We have the Care Bear Stars. Joey starts each morning with 4 CB Stars. He gets a warning and then if the misbehavior continues…he loses a star. Some behaviors like hitting, pushing or being completely rude make him lose a star immediately. When we lose a star, we go and sit in the Make A Better Choice Chair for 5 “whole” minutes. After the timer goes off, we can’t get up until we decide what the Better Choice would have been. Each CB Star is worth 10 minutes on his computer or the Wii. If he keeps all 4 Care Bear Stars, at the end of the day he gets a Super Star. When he earns 10 Super Stars…well, get gets a special reward. We are working towards a Planet Hero action figure right now. 3 more 4 Care Bear Star Days To Go!!!!! A few of you have asked what in the world he is talking about when he whines that he lost a star….now you know. If you look closely at the shirt he is wearing it reads: This is my time out shirt. I wear it all the time!

I love it! That sounds exactly like what I used to do with my kindergarten kids. I think it's a GREAT idea to use at home as well, and I think I may just steal it in a few years! :)

I miss you guys - will you be back at Christmas?
